Brielle was incorporated as a borough in 1919 from portions of Wall Township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature. The borough is primarily a residential community of single homes and few condominiums. Within the total area of Brielle, New Jersey, there are almost no undeveloped parts of land left. As of the 2000 census, the population of Brielle was 4,893 residents.
